Free music-based action game

Friday Night Funkin' is a music-based game influenced by PaRappa The Rapper and Dance Dance Revolution. The game revolves around two characters—Boyfriend and Girlfriend—and their target of kissing by the end of the night, but Boyfriend wants to get past her dad first.

In Friday Night Funkin', Boyfriend is going to have to impress Daddy Dearest by playing the best song. You can help him accomplish that by matching your keyboard strokes to the music notes that play on the screen. There will be other enemies along the way, so you'll have to plan to beat them with the magic of song.

Let the music play

Friday Night Funkin is a game that challenges your sense of rhythm. The game challenges you to click buttons at precise times: the screen shows which key you need to hit, and the game awards points for both accuracy and pacing. The dynamics are identical to Dance Dance Revolution, where you click the key when the floating arrow fits its shape (seen on top of the screen).

You're going to play the Boyfriend—a kid with the blue hair of the moon. He's vying for a kiss from his Girlfriend, but her dad won't let that happen. Boyfriend must first be able to defeat him in a sing-off. Using your WASD or arrow keys, you may need to align each arrow the best you can. The result of each round will be decided by the meter at the bottom of the frame.

The meter can switch either left or right. It will shift to the left when the Boyfriend scores and to the right when he loses. The color of the meter can also change based on how well you play. It will turn green for winning and red for losing. You're also going to play against other musicians, including Pico, Monster, Skid, and Pump. The mechanics of the game will remain the same, no matter who you're up against.

Match the victory

Players will go on a Friday Night Funkin's nostalgic ride. The gameplay is close to that of classic rhythm games or matching puzzle games, making it an extremely easy-to-play game; however, it is also very difficult to play as the songs can differ in rhythm and tempo. A row of arrows is above each opponent to match the music up to keyboard strokes. Plus, the retro graphics are a fun touch to have.
